Today’s Topic is to:
“Share a positive "real life" experience with books! Either by way of your own partnerships in your community, a book signing you went to or possibly even a get together with fellow book bloggers. Tell us all about it!”
I live in a fairly small town in SC. We do not have any indie book stores. In fact, the only bookstore we do have is a small Books-A-Million in the mall. They are too small to really host many events so I have not found much opportunity to network there. Luckily I do live close enough to some larger cities that I can drive to fun events!
Last year I was lucky enough to attend The Breathless Reads tour book signing featuring:
Matched by Ally Condie
Nightshade by Andrea Cremer
The Eternal Ones by Kirsten Miller
The Replacement by Brenna Yavanoff
Across the Universe by Beth Revis
It was such a fun experience! The best part was meeting other bloggers! I talked about it on twitter a ton to try and find out who else was going. I ended up knowing that Michelle from Hooked to Books was going to be there so we tweeted to each other to make sure we could meet up. I went by myself and ended up randomly sitting next to Gabrielle from Mod Podge Bookshelf! I am so glad that we started chatting and found that out!
The next event that I went to was the SC Book Festival which you can read all about Here and Here. I don’t think I mentioned it in my original post about the book festival but this was the first time I told someone my blog name and they recognized it and said they were following my blog! That was an exciting feeling!
I am making plans to get to YALLFest in Charleston SC in November!! I am going to do everything I can to make that happen even if I end up having to bring the baby with me!! I am so excited about it because I know that there are tons of other bloggers that plan to go that I really would love to meet in person!
If I have any advice for those wanting to make connections in person it is to speak up! Start telling twitter and your blog readers that you are going to be there. That way you can plan to connect if they are going to be there too! Talk to people when you get there! You never know who the person is sitting beside you!
