Every year at this time, I start to remember my military service and miss it just a little bit.
My official United States Air Force photo

I think I need to go back to basic training again so I can get back in this shape!
We were all Military cops, don't we look scary and tough!?!?

Even though I got out of the AF after my four years were up, I am still proud of everything I accomplished then.
Now I get to be proud of my husband. He has been in the military for 21 years this year and is not done just yet. He was deployed to Iraq about 2 years ago and this picture was taken with his unit.
(He is standing up in the back row on the far left)
I am proud to say that all these Airmen made it home safe!
I just wanted to take a minute to put a few faces with this holiday. Our military members are husbands, wives, mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, sons and daughters. Every time our country loses a member of the armed forces a family somewhere has just lost someone they loved.
Celebrate! Have fun! Hang out with family and do whatever it is that makes you happy! Just take a minute of your day to remember those we lost.
Lastly, to those who have served or are still serving in the Armed Forces, you have my deepest gratitude and prayers for your continued safety.
Shannon, thank you for sharing this!
ReplyDeleteAlso: thank you, your husband, and everyone else who have served in the military (including my brother out in NJ right now). :)

DeleteShannon,
ReplyDeleteThank you SO much for sharing this. I've always had the utmost respect and love for you, but my respect for you and your husband has increased ten-folds... It's so beautiful, and heartrending too, the sacrifices that soldiers make so that we can enjoy all that we enjoy as Americans. The pictures are wonderful, and you (as always) look beautiful in them. Have a safe and wonderful Memorial Day.
