I think it makes more sense to put my updates on Top, so here is
******************Final Update! Finish Line*****************
Ok so perhaps this image is not the correct one but the fireworks one I posted showed up and a blank with a tiny little ? in it. I have been awake for 24 hours so this will have to do! Yay us! We are winners… or something!
I Made it! I did start a little bit behind the official start time though. I have to say I can not remember the last time it was daylight out before I went to bed! I am much to old for this!
Thanks so much to everyone who put in hard word to make this happen. We had great hosts over at the official blog and lots of great mini challenge hosts as well. Thanks to the cheerleaders who left comments and sent encouragement on twitter.
I learned that I need to be more prepared next year! I was just not ready to get going this morning at 8AM and once I was I was really easily distracted by the kids and Twitter and the mini challenges. Actually though, those things added to the fun. I did finish 2 books and I got started on a third! I will likely try to finish Sweet Valley Confidential when I wake up later today!
Lastly: zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz……………………………..
**************Update # 3! Heading into Hour 20************
I won the Origami challenge hosted by Word Lilly! So excited for that!
I have been disappointed with my progress so far, I was easily distracted today with kids and challenges and twitter! I managed to finish Red on Red by Edward Conlon. At over 400 pages though that isn’t too terrible. Now I am moving on to That Summer by Sarah Dessen!

I am feeling pretty good even though it is almost 4AM on the East Coast! 4 hours left and I am going to try and make it till the end!
****************** Update #2!***************
We are now in Hour 8! I have not read near as much as I wanted to BUT I am still going! I decided to take part in the mini challenge hosted by Word Lilly! Our challenge was to make Oragami from Book Pages. I actually did it!! I used an actual book that I was NEVER going to read. I feel like a Book Murderer!
Im not sorry though, because my kids LOVED this! It was a lot of fun for us to do this together! I made a butterfly, my son made a boat and my daughter made a puppy!
*******************Update #1 *******************
We are now in the 6th hour. Being that I slept in and am easily distracted by Twitter. I am really just getting started. Ahhh.
Here is the very small stack of books I realistically hope to get through. Although, I also have many for review on my Kindle and the Nook.
I chose my favorite reading place to spend my Read-a-Thon; The red couch in the school room!
As I head into hour seven I am a little over halfway through Red on Red. I will Update again in a few hours! If you are participating, I hope that you are having fun!
*************************Original Post***********************
I am still here! I have been feeling a bit under the weather but I am better now and ready to get some reading done! I decided to join Dewey’s Read-a-Thon! (Click for more info)
1)Where are you reading from today?
South Carolina
2)Three random facts about me…
* I hate to wear shirts with short sleeves, I either wear tank tops or long sleeves.
* I played the flute growing up and later played the snare drum. In military Basic training, I played the snare drum and marched in a parade in San Antonio (or somewhere close)
* I HATE mushrooms.
3)How many books do you have in your TBR pile for the next 24 hours?
More than I could possibly read, I would be ecstatic to get through 4!
4)Do you have any goals for the read-a-thon (i.e. number of books, number of pages, number of hours, or number of comments on blogs)?
No, I just want to enjoy reading today. I have been taking a bit of a reading break the last few days and watching TV or Movies with the kids instead. Ready to get back to reading today, regardless of the number of books.
5)If you’re a veteran read-a-thoner, any advice for people doing this for the first time?
I am a newbie! At least for a 24 hour one. I am already getting a late start after sleeping in a bit! Ready to go now!
Also~ I *think* my Blog may have been hacked! If anyone has gotten any spam comments or anything, they were NOT from me! I have changed the password and it should be fine now. If you did get any spam or had any other issues, please contact me at

Love your origami and that you got your kids involved with it. (Even if you did murder a book in the process. LOL)

Go Shannon! I am SO tired now! Not sure how much longer I am going to make it.... :) But wait! I am supposed to be cheering so GO SHANNON!!! Only 3.5 more hours to go! You can do it!!!
ReplyDeleteHang in there! You can make it to the end!
ReplyDeleteAwesome!!! So glad you participated! Congrats on making it to the end! (Even if you did start late! :) )
ReplyDeleteCongrats! :D With kids running around and everything I think you deserve a big gold star (or maybe a nice long nap) now! :D
ReplyDeleteI look forward to your review of Sweet Valley Confidential, I'm still undecided about reading it! :)
Enjoy your sleeping! :D
I think so too Lisa! Yesterday was crazy but I got a lot more reading done when the kids went to sleep!
ReplyDeleteI am only a couple chapters into Sweet Valley but I plan to have that review up this week!
